2008 is off to an early start!
We flew at York today! 29 Flights. NRY and EBI are up and flying. Four tow pilots checked out.
Three Pawnee pilots are now current. Many instructors are also now
current.

THIS Sunday, Oct. 14
being Pig Roast Sunday, we are hoping for a GREAT turn out even though some will be elsewhere...

We ask that folk bring a salad, veggie or dessert for the Pot Luck portion of the Dinner. Beer will be available for $2 and the Dinner cost will be $10 for Adults and $5 for Cadets. This is a fundraiser for the club after all. 6pm is the approximate Dinnertime as Master Piggy Roaster will be starting the spit at @ 10am. Vegetarians are welcome as always and veggie burgers will be available for them. There will also be a 50/50 draw to satisfy the adventure neurons in all of us!

Hi Honour, Lt. Governor David Onley, has confirmed his visit to York Soaring for 2:00 p.m. next Sunday the 16th. We are hoping to have the Air Cadet band from the Grand Valley Squadron present for playing the Vice Regal Salute and inspection, followed by introductions to club members in general and Freedom's Wings pilots in particular.

Sept 03

September brings the first Pawnee tug to our fleet. Peter Foster flew
it back from the far side of Montreal Saturday, showed it off at York on
Sunday, see it here.

Sept 02

We are pleased that we now have a firm core of volunteers to enable us to fly on soarable days.
We have two tow pilots on call.

We will plan to be at the field by 11:00 am and close down the
office at 4:00 PM

August 24!!!

Due to High winds forecasted to diminish only by saturday evening the scheduled "Spot Landing and BBQ" will be postponed to Sunday Aug 26th.

August 25th we will be hosting the Spot Landing Contest! other challenges will be added for you 2-33 jockeys... and not. Corn roast and BBQ!!!

Very good weekend with lots of flights.
The "longest day" was a success, worth getting up at 4:15 am! Don't miss it next year. here is a sample of pictures of the weekend, from the new Freedom Wings Grob to the "longest day" morning flights.

June 21

June 23rd we celebrate "The Longest Day", for those who are new to York Soaring this event features dawn to dusk flying. This year we will begin launching at 5:06am, and fly until 9:33pm. It's a great opportunity to experience the thrill of flight in absolutely still air.

Good weekend with lots of good lift, but it was James Kingdon the happiest member with his first flight in his... brand new ASW17.

Bouncing Baby Blanik !!

We are very please to announce a new addition to the York Soaring
Fleet.
Today YSA completed the purchase of a LET L-33 Solo, an all metal,
single seat aircraft produced by the same Czech firm that built our
two Blaniks.This aircraft is a modern (built in 1994), low time club class
glider with good performance (claimed 33:1). It is known for its
excellent handling characteristics, and will fit into our fleet at
much the same level as our 1-23.
Come out this weekend to see our new glider and fly a Baby Blanik!

On Saturday, June 9th at 0930, Mr. Kurtis Arnold from NavCanada will
be at YSA conducting a presentation on the Toronto area airspace
structure.

The presentation will consist off a general briefing about IFR
routes in the area around the Class C, some information on ATC
frequencies, and Toronto Operations. This will be followed by an
open forum, where you can ask questions.

Again this year Freedom's Wings Canada will be exhibiting at the PEOPLE IN MOTION SHOW on Friday June 1st and Saturday June 2nd, located in the Queen Elizabeth Building at Exhibition Park. Paul will set up the simulator

The motion simulator:
The Toronto Aerospace Museum in Downsview is having its second annual
show of aviation and classic automobiles, May 26-27. York Soaring will
be giving "rides" in one of our simulators 10 am - 4 pm, Saturday and
Sunday.
We are at the People In Motion show the following Friday and Saturday,
June 1,2 down at the Exhibition Grounds. The motion simulator then
will return to York for the remainder of the flying season.

As of this Wednesday May 16th, we will be starting Mid Week Flying.
We will be pleased to have student pilots to cross country experts come and fly!!!!
Via "Frank's Forecast", we will post flying conditions around 8:00am each morning. So the sky awaits you!

2007 Flying season has begun!
With perfect weather activities started early Saturday morning, Instructors and members begun their check flights, a few visitors dropped by and were introduced to flying.
"Lift" improved and longer flights were achieved as the day went on, James Kingdon was all smiles after a 90 minutes flight in the Blanik.
...come on up!!!
