YORK SOARING 2007 DINNER

On Saturday, March 31, 2007, York Soaring Association held its Annual Award Banquet at the Hansa House, Mississauga. It was attended by 78 members and their spouses. This was a very special evening for YSA as it was intended not only to recognise those members who have contributed to the club over the last year, but to recognize the outstanding and unprecedented efforts of Walter Chmela, our founding member, who was retiring after 45 years of service as President and Treasure. Walter has been the only President and Treasurer YSA has ever had.

Rainer Zimm acted as MC for the evening. After the instructor and special recognition awards were handed out, our new president, Peter Foster gave a short presentation on the new organization structure that is to be implemented, and our new treasurer, Ivor David, presented the 2006 flight statistics and the budget for 2007. Rainer Zimm, Paul Moggach (Director of Flight Operations) and Ivor David then paid tribute to Walter and Ivor presented him with a book of photographs and anecdotes to remind him of some of the things that he and YSA had done over the years. Ivor also presented Walter's wife Eva with a bouquet in appreciation of the support she has given Walter over the years.

It was quite an evening which everyone enjoyed. The following photographs shows some of the activities that went on.
